PHYSICAL CHANGES
WHAT YOU ARE IN FOR
For boys most of the physical changes occur outside of the body, and there is a lot going on. All the changes are happening because of testosterone which is the
male sex hormone, and it is running around all through your body making alterations and changes.
These changes include:
male sex hormone, and it is running around all through your body making alterations and changes.
These changes include:
- Hair on face, (beard), under arms, on chest, on back and some pubic hair around the penis and scrotum.
- Pimples and acne arrive.
- Excretion and wet dreams occur.
- Sperm and testes grow.
- Penis and scrotum get bigger and shape changes.
- Hair on arms and legs becomes darker and thicker.
- Muscles develop.
- Voice deepens.
- More sweat
We can't tell you the exact order these changes will come in because, different things will grow at different times. Though this is the a rough guide to the different stages you will go through.
So that is basically what you are in for, but once again no need to freak out or get nervous. Everyone will go through it at one stage so the best things you can to is be well prepared and know what is happening.
A lot of the changes that you will go through happen in your reproductive system. E.g. Excretion and wet dreams, sperm and testes grow and penis and scrotum get bigger and shape changes. The male reproductive system can be found here.
SPOTS AND DOTS
Pimples are a fact in puberty hard to avoid. Some people get a few pimples here and there whilst some get covered in acne all over their back, face and arms. Everyone who goes through puberty will mostly get a bout of pimples in some stage, and as there isn't really anything that will get rid of them completely there are ways to help getting more, and keeping your skin healthy and clean. Ways to do this can be found here.
LALALALALA
During puberty at some stage your voice will deepen. It will make its first crack and then it will take some time to settle in. At first you will probably start making some odd noises when trying to speak this is because you are having difficulty controlling it. But what's going on? Your larynx (voice box) is causing all your troubles. When you go through puberty the larynx grows and thickens. It happens for girls as well but the change is much more evident more boys, because you can hear their voices get significantly deeper. The strange noises you may make are called 'testipops'. The sound will be higher in sound and normally only lasts for a split second. Your friends may laugh at you but they probably have or will go though them.
HAIR HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE
When you go through puberty you will get hair were they was never any hair before, you will get more hair where there was already hair and your hair will also become darker and thicker in some places. The places that will be visual are your arm pits, face, arms and legs. Though the hair on your face, on your chin and above lip, won't come until your final stages of puberty. Under your arms, hair will begin to grow as well. Most boys don't shave it unlike girls, but some swimmers and a few other men will. It is your choice. Down around pubic hair will start to grow on your pubic mound and around your penis and scrotum. Your pubic hair is not meant to be the shade of your hair colour, and is most commonly black. Though any other shade is perfectly fine.
MUCLES, MUSCLES AND MORE MUSCLES
During puberty something to look forward to is a more muscular build. Some will get more of a muscle build up than others, and some get it later than others. Some boys you might notice have some chest muscles (pectoralis muscles)
or have broader shoulders (deltoids), whilst others are still very small and slim. It is important to know that if you think that you don't have any yet than lifting weights will only tone your muscles instead of going through puberty and
letting your muscles build up instead. If you keep on exercising and eating nutritious food it will only make you a fit and healthy kid. It is also important to know that lifting weights can stunt your growth.

STINKY SWEAT
When you reach puberty you may find that you sweat more. Don't worry though it is completely normal. The sweat itself doesn't stink though the bacteria on your skin will begin to admit an odour. This is your body odour or BO. Make sure you wash your body and especially your underarms with warm, soapy water everyday. Changing your clothes and socks often is also good to keep yourself smell free.
WET DREAMS, ERECTIONS AND MASTURBATING
A very important part of puberty is getting wet dreams and having erections. A wet dream will begin to happen during puberty and carry on afterwards during your adult life, even though an erection will to, it will become more controllable as you get more comfortable in your changing body. A wet dream It is when the sperm being created in your testicles is busting to get out to while you are sleeping your brain begins to have sexual dreams. Your penis will erect because of the blood pressure inside and then ejaculate the sperm as well as semen. The amount of semen that comes out differs from person to person. Though don't expect it to be as much as when you wet your bed. It will come up on your undies and sometimes show on your bed sheets. Don't worry though if you have really little amount one time or a really big amount the next, or vies versa. At different times sperm and semen will build up causing more to come out. When an erection happens semen will not always come out, only when you are having a wet dream or having sexual intercourse. During the day you might find you have some sexual feelings so your penis might erect. To not expect semen to come out as it shouldn't. When your penis is erect it will go hard and stiff, though after awhile it will go back to normal. During puberty you will find them hard to control, but as you get older they will be a lot easier to control. Do out your sexual feelings at ease some boys will choose masturbation. Masturbation is when you use mostly your hands to 'play' with your genitals. You do until you reach 'orgasm' which is the sex tension which results is a rhythmic muscle pulsing. Semen will mostly come out if you do it when you have reached puberty otherwise none will come out.
